Feb. 26: Salutations Service Cancelled Tonight Due to SnowThe Service of Salutations at the St. George Chapel for Fri., Feb. 26, 2010, has been canceled due to snow, hazardous driving and worsening conditions expected tonight. (Posted: February 26, 2010) Feb. 16: St. Nikodemos Lenten Study Series for MenThe St. Nikodemos Orthodox Men’s Study Group is holding a special Lenten Study Series this year. The group will meet every Tuesday during Lent for a mid-day study from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at Three Gateway Center, Suite 1600 (TriadUSA). This is a great way to add a boost to your Lenten spiritual journey. The topic of study is the book, “How to Live a Holy Life” by Metropolitan Gregory of St. Petersburg. It is filled with practical spiritual advice for Orthodox Christians living in the world. The meeting schedule is: Feb. 16, 23, Mar. 2, 9, 16, & 23, 2010. (Posted: February 18, 2010) Feb. 12: Snow Cleared at Church and Chapel; Saturday, Sunday and Lenten Services on as ScheduledWith thanksgiving to God and sincere appreciation for our Parish Council and Cemetery Committee leadership, I am pleased to announce that the snow has been cleared to allow us to have services as scheduled. The driveway and circle have been cleared and salted at the Chapel, and at the Church both the small parking lot and the large parking lot have also been cleared. North Ave., Pgh., PA, has been cancelled for Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, due to a major snowstorm that has paralyzed the region and resulted in the declaration of a state of emergency. All parishioners are asked to abide by public safety directives and to offer their own personal and family devotions in the safety of their homes. If Internet service is available, a number of live broadcasts of Divine Liturgies are accessible on Sunday morning at www.goarch.org or www.saintbarbara.org. The event is scheduled for Friday, November 20th, which is also “Light up Night” in Pittsburgh. Children and their chaperons will not only have the opportunity to enjoy all that the Science Center will offer (including an IMAX film), but also the fireworks in Pittsburgh.
